Kayla King

Dr. King is a Professor in the Departments of Zoology and Microbiology & Immunology at the University of British Columbia, as well as Professor of Evolutionary Ecology in the Department of Biology, University of Oxford. Her research focuses on the evolution, ecology, and genomics of host-parasite interactions using a combination of experimental evolution, computational approaches, and collections from the wild. Prof. King brings deep expertise in understanding of the evolution and diversification of host-associated microbes. Her initial role in PROGENITER will be to advise the team on the virus strains that we pursue for antibody discovery, and in later years to ensure that we are cognizant of aspects related to zoonotic transmission and in tackling the impacts of global environmental change and poor nutrition on parasite transmission and virulence.
