Dr. Jan is a Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Jan is a co-lead (with Anna Blakney and Pieter Cullis) of the UBC RNA core facility and is Chair of the Education committee of the RNA Canada consortium. He is also a co-founder of NanoVation Therapeutics. Dr. Jan’s lab focuses on understanding fundamental aspects of virus host interactions of plus-strand RNA viruses with specific focus on elucidating RNA translation mechanisms; his team’s interdisciplinary expertise has mined viromes to uncover novel viral RNA mechanisms and is translating these viral RNA elements into new RNA designs for RNA-LNP technologies. His role in PROGENITER is to provide guidance into the RNA designs including the untranslated regions and
structure of the RNAs for optimal RNA LNP delivery.
